abstract This marine geochemical and sampling survey undertaken by Istititute of Geological Sciences (BGS) in conjuction with AERE, Harwell took place September to October 1972 in the Bristol Channel on m.v. Observer. This involved calibration of a sea-bed gamma spectometer towed over an area of relatively well known geology north-east of Lundy with subsequent work in the lesser known area of Bridgwater Bay. In the latter area, gravity cores were taken to calibrate the spectometer.
