abstract This marine geophysical survey took place in July to August 1990 in the Southern North Sea on board the VFS Gauss. It was carried out by Deutsche Hydrographische Institut (DHI), Hamburg and Rijks Geologische Dienst (RGD) as part of an international collaborative project funded by the EEC the survey. The purpose was to study the quaternary of the southern North Sea Basin. The objective was to link a series of quaternary boreholes in the Danish, German, Dutch and British sectors of the North Sea with high resolution multichannel seismic profiles and extend the Cromer-sylt profile. The British Geological Survey supervised data processing. Sub-bottom profiling data were collected using Sleeve gun. These records are archived by BGS. Details of the survey are contained in BGS report WB/90/31R.
